Tape Measure

Tape Measure

Tape Measure is an Android app, that measures distance using device’s camera and a target marker. The app recognizes the marker and shows the distance in real time.

The only requirement for the user is to keep the marker centered on the screen and visible enough to be recognized by the app.

Some Sony/Sony Ericsson Xperia devices and some 3D devices(like the LG Optimus 3D) are not compatible with this app. Though you can try it even if yours is one of these models.

Tape Measure has the following features depending on the device capabilities:

Zoom: (Free version of the app is limited to half zoom)
  • Disabled
  • Manual
  • Automatic
Autofocus: (Some devices do not have this at all)
  • Manual
  • Automatic (Every 3 Seconds)
  • Continuous
Units:
  • Metric
  • Imperial
Zoom Fix:*
  • Default (Original)
  • Fixed (Method 1)
* Some devices report wrong zoom values. The “Fixed” option is to try to fix those values. If any device shows wrong distances, choose this option.
If after applying the fix your device still shows wrong distances, just disable the Zoom in the “Zoom” configuration. The measuring range will decrease, but values will be correct.
In the future there will be more methods for less compatible devices.

This table shows tested devices with respective measuring ranges:
